  • Who We Are

Orrefors was founded in 1898 deep in the glassmaking region of Småland, Sweden. More than a century later, the brand sits at the center of Scandinavian crystal design, with much of the collection still produced in Sweden and a roster of celebrated artists shaping each new release.

    Our Designers

Every Orrefors piece starts with a named designer, which sets the brand apart from competitors that produce anonymous factory patterns. The stemware and barware collection features a wide roster of Scandinavian talent, including Erika Lagerbielke, Lena Bergström, Olle Alberius, Martti Rytkönen, and more, giving the lineup its breadth across cut crystal, sculptural forms, and clean modern silhouettes.

  • Sustainability

Sustainability is part of how Orrefors crystal is made, not an afterthought. Production runs lead-free under ISO 14001 environmental certification, with recycled glass scrap folded back into the melt, water cycled through closed-loop systems, and furnaces optimized to reduce energy consumption. Crystal made to last for generations is sustainability built into the design itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between stemware and barware?

Stemware refers to glasses with a stem and a foot, like wine glasses, champagne flutes, and martini glasses, where the stem keeps the hand away from the bowl and preserves the temperature of the drink. Barware is the broader category that covers tumblers, DOFs, highballs, decanters, and the accessories around a home bar. Orrefors brings both together under one collection, designed by named Swedish artists for a coordinated table setting.

Which Orrefors stemware collection is right for me?

The Intermezzo Blue collection is one of our most iconic, recognized by the signature blue drop sealed inside the stem and available across nearly every glass shape.

The More collection brings clean modern lines at an accessible price for everyday use.

The Carat collection by Lena Bergström delivers faceted brilliance for a more formal feel. For something architectural, the Street, City, and Sofiero collections bring hand-cut detail to any bar cart.

Are Orrefors stemware and barware pieces a good gift?

A wine glass set or a decanter is one of the most-reached-for gifts at Orrefors, particularly during wedding season, graduation season, and the holidays.

Pricing covers everything from a single tumbler to a full glassware set, making it easy to find something that fits the moment. When the decision is best left to the recipient, an Orrefors gift card is also available.

Do you offer engraving services for stemware and barware?

Yes. Almost any piece in the collection can be personalized through our engraving program with monograms, names, dates, short messages, or a company logo. There is no setup fee, a virtual proof is shared before the cut is made, and the engraving is sand-blasted into the surface rather than printed on top.

For repeat orders or larger gifting programs, contact b2b@orrefors.us or browse the corporate gifts program.

How should I care for crystal stemware and barware?

Most pieces in the collection are dishwasher safe with careful loading, though hand-painted and handcrafted designs are best washed by hand with a soft cloth and warm water. Polish with a lint-free cloth to keep the clarity of the cut detail. Store long-stemmed wine glasses upright on a shelf rather than hung by the stem, since hanging can put pressure on the joint over time. Make sure to check the specific care instructions that sit on each product page.

For other questions, the customer service team is available for inquiries about a specific piece.
