Our goal is to create timeless and elegant utility glass and interior design objects that last from generation to generation, just as we have done since 1898. Orrefors glass is sustainable design that contributes to a more beautiful world.
Our Glass
At Kosta Glasbruk, we have worked with lead-free glass mass since the end of the 1990s. Our partners have also been working with lead-free glass mass since 2019.We test our products that are intended for contact with food to ensure that the glass does not transfer substances to the food.
As a company, we are quality and environmentally certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
Transport
“We always keep the environment in mind when choosing the transport of our products within Sweden, as well as to and from Sweden. As far as possible, we choose boat before truck or air when shipping internationally and we make sure to pack the vehicles or containers fully out to reduce the number of transports.”

People
Like us, all our partners, inside or outside the EU, must follow our Code of Conduct, which ensures basic working conditions, the right to freely organize trade unions, provisions on minimum wages, overtime pay and working time restrictions. The code of conduct also includes prohibitions against child labor and discrimination. To ensure high quality and that the rules are followed by our suppliers, we visit them annually. The majority of our partners are within the EU.
Our goals for a better world
At Kosta glassworks in Småland, we are constantly working on refining the production of the raw material glass. In our improvement work, we are currently working with four of the UN's global goals; clean water and sanitation for all, sustainable energy for all, sustainable industry, innovations and infrastructure as well as sustainable consumption and production. At the mill in Småland, we have our own purification plant and we reuse the water to the extent that is used in production. We also work with energy-saving measures such as energy-efficient lighting, efficient ovens that are carbon dioxide neutral and also district heating in our premises. We always want to find new solutions and therefore we collaborate with various institutions and universities. Today we work with Rise, which is a research institute in a project where we look at process optimization to get the best quality out of the glass. All waste from the production of clear glass at Kosta Glasbruk is reused to create new glass. Something that saves both natural resources and energy. Glass is a fantastic material that can be reused time and time again without the quality deteriorating.
