The north becomes a symbolic factor in the collection Polaris. It is designed by the Swedish-Finish designer Martti Rytkönen, who often bases the style of his glass objects on his love for nature – a recurring theme in his work for Orrefors. With Polaris, he has taken influences from the frozen waves of the deep and cold nordic seas. All items in Polaris – a vase and a bowl, are made of thick crystal glass, resembling the purity of ice. The collection was launched in 2008.
